Of course it is something we all think about from time to time, and I think it is built into our lives a bit. We go away to college where we can re-create ourselves. We make New Years Resolutions, and we pretend that from one day to the next we can just decide to make a fresh start. I know I've done it. <br />You describe the speaker in the poem as someone who is choosing not to let themselves keep starting over, but what if it is someone who can't.
